The Meadowlark is one of the most recognizable terrestrial songbirds in North America.
Featuring a long, slender bill and a brightly colored yellow breast, the Meadowlark is typically spotted in grasslands and open pastures, loudly singing its harmonious song. Weighing just three ounces, it ranges in length from eight to eleven inches and relies primarily on grain seeds and small insects for survival. Though it is considered a short-distance migratory, the Meadowlark is widely distributed throughout the American West.
This coin features a detailed depiction of a Meadowlark on its obverse. Bordered by a classic wreath design, the reverse contains a space for engraving.
